The Hits Radio have signed up Britain’s hottest boyband, One Direction, to host a series of shows on the two stations.
For five weeks, each member of the band will host their own show called ‘Direct from 1D HQ’. As well as picking their favourite songs, they will reveal all about life in the band.
The show will be on air from 22 January for five weeks on The Hits Radio, between 3pm – 4pm on Sunday afternoons.
Band member Zayn Malik will host the first show with the rest of the One Direction boys taking over in the following weeks.
Zayn says: “What a way to start 2012 – getting our own radio shows! We’re really excited to get on air and pick our own playlist!’
Gary Stein, Programme Director for The Hits Radio, added: “This is the band that gets the fans screaming and we’re delighted that they’ll kick off 2012 with us. It’s sure to be must-hear radio for fans of the band! “
The band members will be on air on the following dates:January 22nd – Zayn Malik, January 29th – Liam Payne, February 5th – Niall Horan, February 12th – Louis Tomlinson, February 19th – Harry Styles. The Hits Radio plays ‘The Biggest Hits Across The UK’ on Freeview 711, DAB Digital Radio in London and www.thehitsradio.com.
